I'm Imran Shaiken, Tuesday's edition of The Daily Crunch starts right now.
On Monday, Amazon introduced a new feature that allows anyone to design merchandise using AI, posing an expanded challenge to online merch platforms like Redbubble, Bonfire, Spring, Fourth Wall, and others.
The company announced that people are now able to create new products using AI prompts via the Alexa feature in its shopping app.
Now, in doing so, anyone can turn their idea into a design that can be featured on items from apparel to tumblers and more, available through Amazon's print-on-demand series.
After prompting to create the design, Amazon handles the production and delivery of the items through prime shipping.
In security news, WhatsApp said that it's disrupted a new hacking campaign linked to NSO Group, a spyware maker that has been ensnared in countless cases of abuse all over the world.
The messaging app Maker accused NSO of violating an earlier court order that bars the company from targeting WhatsApp and its users with its spyware and is seeking to hold NSO in contempt of court.
On Monday, the Meta-owned chat app announced that it caught and disrupted spear phishing attempts linked to NSO after an investigation prompted by user reports.
They tried to trick people into clicking on malicious links to drive them to external websites outside of WhatsApp, the company wrote.
Continuing, we also caught them creating test accounts in groups on WhatsApp, which we took down.
WhatsApp said that the attacks were similar to another phishing campaign that relied on users clicking on malicious links, which would then lead to the targets being infected with NSO's spyware Pegasus, a campaign that was reported in Jordan in 2024.
And finally, Italian app studio Bending Spoons, which has acquired businesses like Eventbrite, Vimeo, and WeTransfer in recent years, has filed to go public in the U.S.
The company joins other names like SpaceX and Anthropic that are preparing to IPO this summer.
The company said it has over 500 million monthly active users across its apps, with 9 million paying customers.
To date, it's made over 50 acquisitions, including AOL, Eventbrite, Vimeo, Komoot, WeTransfer, Evernote, and Brightcove.
In its filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Bending Spoon said it ended the year with $1.31 billion in revenue and has generated $601 million in Q1, a 132% year-on-year jump.
The company gets the majority of its revenue from subscriptions, which account for 84% of its business.
It generated $27.4 million in profit in Q1 2026.
The company raised funding at an $11 billion valuation last year, up from $2.8 billion in 2024.
In April, Reuters reported that the company could seek a $20 billion valuation with the IPO.
