This is TechCrunch.

AI can sometimes feel exactly what the first letter stands for, artificial, but not modulates Velma, which adds a human touch as a voice native behavior aware model that's built to understand real conversations.
It makes Velma's analysis so accurate because it's not just about what we're saying in a conversation.
It's how we say it.
Language can be nuanced.
So that's where Velma can become really valuable.
Velma breaks down conversations and produces timestamped scores and events tied to moments in dialogue.
And that means you can see exactly when risk rises, behavior shifts, or intent changes.
And that's why I think Velma could be helpful if you're a company trying to mitigate risks.
Go beyond transcripts and see what a voice native AI model can really do.

That's preview.modulate.ai to see why Velma ranks number one on leading benchmarks for conversation understanding, deep fake detection and emotion detection.

I'm Imran Shake, and your daily crunch for Saturday starts right now.
Starting Friday, OpenAI will cease providing access to five legacy chat GPT models, including the popular but controversial GPT 4.0 model.
The 4 0 model has been at the center of a let's say number of lawsuits concerning user self-harm, delusional behavior, and AI psychosis.
It remains OpenAI's highest scoring model for sick of fancy for crying out loud.
In addition to GPT-4.0, the GPT-5, GPT 4.1, GPT 4.1 mini, and OpenAI 04 Mini models have also been deprecated.
OpenAI intended to retire GPT 4.0 in August when it unveiled the GPT-5 model.
But at the time, there was enough backlash for OpenAI to keep the legacy model available for paid subscribers who could manually choose to interact with that model.
In a recent blog post, OpenAI noted that only 0.1% of customers have been using GPT-4.0, but for a company with 800 million weekly active users, yeah, that small percentage still amounts to 800,000 people.
Thousands of users have rallied against the retirement of 4.
And here I thought my relationship with Ask Jeeves way back when was a little too parasocial.
Anthropic Super Bowl ads, which feature darkly comedic scenarios of people seeking advice from chatbots, only to be steered to cougar dating sites and height boosting insoles, have been paying off.
You see, in the days since Anthropics AI chatbot Claude has climbed from number 41 on the US app store to become a top 10 app.
As a Friday, Claude sits at number seven, its highest rank to date, suggesting its no ads pitch resonates strongly with users.
According to new data from market intelligence provider App Figures, Claude's US downloads across both iOS and Android totaled an estimated 148,000 from Sunday through Tuesday, the most recent data available.
Alright, so that's a 32% increase from the preceding three days, Thursday through Saturday, where downloads totaled approximately 112,000.
Claude's daily average number of downloads from Sunday through Tuesday was 49,200, up 32% from the usual Sunday through Tuesday average of 37,400 per day.
While the numbers suggest that Anthropic Super Bowl commercials, combined with Anthropic's recent release of its new opus 4.6 model, worked to drive attention to Claude's app and its key differentiator from ChatGPT.
You see, the latter rolled out ads to free users this week, and just as Anthropic's ads had warrant.
What a coincidence.
As a result, Claude's app is gaining more attention than it did when it first debuted on mobile.

Ring, the Amazon-owned home security company announced on Thursday that it will no longer partner with Flock Safety, a maker of AI-powered surveillance cameras that share footage with law enforcement.
You see, the two companies announced a deal way back in October that would have allowed Ring Doorbell users to share footage with Flock and its network of public safety agencies to assist with, quote, evidence collection and investigative work, unquote.
As reported by 404 Media, Flock's footage has been used by Immigration and Customs Enforcement, ICE, the Secret Service, and the Navy, which all have had access to Flock's tens of thousands of AI-enabled cameras.
Flock maintains that it does not explicitly work with ICE.
Now, to be fair, Flock does maintain that it does not explicitly work with ICE.
Ring wrote in a blog post that it made a joint decision with Flock to cancel the partnership because the integration would require significantly more time and resources than anticipated.
This news comes less than a week after Ring's Super Bowl ad aired, which showed how its AI-powered search party feature could use a network of neighborhood cameras to find lost doggos.
The ad stoked controversy from viewers who worry that this technology could be leveraged against humans and not just for the benefit of man's best friend.
